OVERVIEW

Repairing the orbit, protecting vision and movement

A fracture of the eye socket can cause the eye to sit too low, double vision, or restricted eye movement. Because vision is involved, assessment and timing both matter.

Imaging maps the exact extent of the fracture, and repair is planned to restore the orbital floor precisely supporting the eye in its correct position and protecting movement.

IS IT RIGHT FOR YOU?

You may be a candidate if…

One eye appears sunken or sits lower than the other

“The eye socket leaves very little room for error. Careful imaging and a joint approach with ophthalmology keep vision protected at every step.”

COMMON QUESTIONS

Eye Socket (Orbital) Reconstruction, answered

Will my vision be affected?

Vision is assessed jointly with ophthalmology throughout. Most patients recover normal eye position and movement, though this is discussed individually based on your injury.

Ideally within one to two weeks of injury, before healing begins in a fixed, incorrect position.

Incisions are typically placed within the eyelid crease, keeping any visible scarring to a minimum.
